Dr. Allen Williams is one of the world’s foremost experts in regenerative agriculture. He is a sixth generation family farmer and founding partner of Grass Fed Insights, LLC, Understanding Ag, LLC, and the Soil Health Academy. He has consulted with more than 4,000 farmers and has worked in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, and other countries on operations ranging from a few acres to over 1 million acres, collectively spanning over 25 million acres.

Through Understanding Ag and other projects, he has worked with companies including General Mills, Danone, Foremost Nestle, Whole Foods, Kroger, Publix, HEB, Turner Ranches, Thousand Hills, Country Natural Beef, Meyer Natural, Shell, McDonalds, Costco, and many others. In addition, he has worked with the United States Department of Agriculture, the Noble Research Institute, and the Wallace Center. Dr. Williams pioneered many of the early regenerative grazing protocols and forage finishing techniques, and now teaches those practices and principles to farmers globally. His major areas of research and business focus include soil health, cover crop/livestock integration, regenerative cropping systems, adaptive forage and grazing management, high attribute pasture-based meat production, and alternative marketing systems.

Dr. Williams has been featured in numerous prominent documentaries and media outlets focused on regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming. His appearances include: Soil Carbon Cowboys (Carbon Nation film series), Roots So Deep, World Without Cows, A Regenerative Secret, the Farmer’s Footprint and Sacred Cow film series, the Dr. Oz Show, ABC’s Food Forecast News, and TEDxBoston ("First, Heal the Soil"). He is the co-author of the book Before You Have a Cow, written in collaboration with Teddy Gentry. Dr. Williams regularly contributes to leading industry publications, including GRAZE, Stockman GrassFarmer, and the Organic Broadcaster, among others. Dr. Williams holds a B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Livestock Genetics from Louisiana State University. He has authored more than 400 scientific and popular press articles and is a frequent invited speaker at conferences and symposia across the U.S. and internationally.
